Heather Murry is the Executive Principal at Kirwan State High School and is recognised as a leader in the Department of Education (DoE) and North Queensland Region (NQR). Heather is recognised as a curriculum and culture expert in the NQR. She is the secondary representative on the NQR Lead the Learning School Leader Collaboration, where she provides support and guidance in the development of professional development for school leaders in curriculum and moderation

In addition to this, Heather has supported secondary schools within the NQR through school visits and mentoring in best practices in strategic planning, moderation and developing a positive school culture. Committed to building the capability of school leaders, Heather was identified by the DoE to lead and facilitate the DoE Beginning Principal Cohort 4. She commenced working with 80-plus principals in 2024 to build their capability in strategic and operational leadership of a school. Heather was elected by state representative bodies to the position of Female Pathways Coordinator on the executive of the Australian Secondary School Rugby League. In this role, she worked collaboratively with the National Rugby League and state representative bodies to build pathways for schoolgirls and female staff in rugby league.
