Ms Isbel’s particular expertise lies in driving systemic Stages 4 and 6 pedagogical improvements to teaching and learning by leading the creation and implementation of rigorous, differentiated and engaging learning opportunities for students, as well as improving their academic resilience. Recently she led a team to create and implement an innovative Year 7 Foundational Skills program (timetabled) to support the development and progression of core learning routines and skills. This program aimed to provide all students with a minimum skill platform needed for a confident and successful start to learning in the senior school, covering a range of topics such as managing software and files and developing core organisational and academic skills (diary usage, directive terms, notetaking etc). The program was also designed to assist with the early identification of students requiring additional support to access their learning.

Her teaching excellence was recognised most recently in 2021 by the Professional Teachers’ Council NSW with an Outstanding Professional Service Award. This related to her extensive work mentoring teachers in the wider educational community and supporting NSW Legal Studies students as an Executive member of the NSW Legal Studies Association.
